The Agrotrafo hydroelectric complex is located 350 kilometers from Palmas (the capital of Tocantins.) The complex consists of two jointed power plants called “Jorge Queiroz” and “Palmeiras” located along the Palmeiras River in Dianópolis.
A DCS system, provides local or remote start-ups, stops and completes operation of generating units. Two 4.9 MW generating sets were installed in “Jorge Queiroz," while the“Palmeiras” facility works with a single set of 4.7 MW. Both plants are fed by two open surface channels, each one connected by a simple riverside intake and two forebays followed by three steel penstocks. The hydroelectric complex was commissioned in 1997.
