The power plant is located 107 kilometers from Cuiabá on the Casca River. A one kilometer long open channel connects the main water intake (concrete weir) set on the Casca River to the forebay and two steel penstocks feed the powerhouse. A 3.8 kilometer long channel connects the main water intake with the Ponte Alta River, which helps to keep a constant flow thoughout the drought period. The powerhouse hosts two 0.72 MW and one 2.08 MW Francis turbines. Two of the generating sets were installed in 1954 and the last one in 1960.
The most recent power plant -Casca III- is located downstream from Casca II.
