The Isamu Ikeda complex is located 150 kilometers from the town of Palmas and consists of two different power plants called "Phase I" and "Phase II." The two facilities are located on the Balsas Mineiro River between Monte do Carmo and Ponte Alta do Tocantins.
The Phase I powerhouse contains four vertical 4.47 MW generating sets commissioned in 1982. Phase II works with two vertical 5.88 MW generating sets commissioned in 1993.
The two complex are connected to the same earth type dam reservoir -10 km² surface- with a built-in forebay feeding the Phase I powerhouse and an open surface channel feeding Phase II. Both complexes have separate electrical substations, which are plugged to the local distribution network.
Phase II equipment is under remote supervision and controlled from Phase I where COGE (Centro Operaçoes da Enel) has been working since December 2007.
