Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Timber Hills Project?

The Timber Hills Project is a proposed wind energy facility that would be located in Burney. The project would create jobs and tax revenue, while reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

How many turbines would the project include?

Although specific details will depend on the data collected by the MET towers, Enel Green Power North America (EGP-NA) anticipates that the project could include approximately 60 turbines.

Where would the turbines be located?

The exact locations of the turbines have not yet been determined at this time. Specific details of the project will depend on the results of the data collected by the MET towers.

How would local residents benefit from the Timber Hills Project?

Renewable energy generated by the wind would provide a number of benefits, such as creating jobs, generating tax revenues to fund County services and reducing dependence on foreign oil. Additionally, EGP-NA is committed to creating benefits in the communities where its projects are located. The company has a number of programs for local schools and other organizations.

How many jobs would be created by the project?

The Timber Hills Project is expected to create more than 80 construction jobs and nearly 10 permanent operations and maintenance jobs.

Has the project been approved?

Shasta County approved the installation of three MET towers on the proposed site. However, the Timber Hills Project is in the earliest stages of development, and no approvals have been issued to construct the facility at this time.

When will the Timber Hills Project be completed?

The Timber Hills Project is in the earliest stages of development and would not be completed for several years. If the data collected during the MET tower process supports the project, EGP-NA would need to submit an application to the County and conduct a full environmental review and analysis.
