Solar photovoltaic, solar thermal and thermal dynamic: these three technologies keep on growing despite the economic crisis. EGP plays a central role in this growth with plants in Europe and North America
Over the next few years, solar photovoltaic will significantly grow across the world, with its installed capacity rising from 22 GW in 2009 to about 500 GW in 2035. These estimates are found in the World Energy Outlook 2011, and are consistent with the data contained in a recent report that was drawn up by EPIA (European Photovoltaic Industry Association) which emphasised that this technology kept growing in 2011, despite the economic crisis.
Enel Green Power plays a central role at a a global level regarding these achievements : presently, Enel Green Powers total installed capacity amounts to 101 MW, between Italy, North America and Spain and Portugal.
EGP is preparing to become a leader in the global market of solar technologies, helping its growth and the development of the necessary know-how. Also to this end, the company is setting up technological partnerships and is developing innovative business models. in Italy for instance, the franchising network Punto Enel Green Power of the subsidiary EGP Retail has greatly developed distributed generation, on the retail and the commercial markets, counting on a widespread franchisee network with 763 centres all over the country.
In this sector EGP does not only focus on solar photovoltaic. Indeed, solar thermal for distributed generation and solar thermal dynamic are presently central in an unprecedented development process, which is producing synergies with other technologies.
