The hydroelectric plant, in the province of Turin, has been put into service in September 2011.
The plant is the first of four on the course of the River Orco, has an installed capacity of over 2 MW. The new facility fully replaces the old hydro plant that was built in 1923 and has the same installed capacity but is more reliable and efficient.
When completed, the plant will be capable of generating 6 million kilowatt hours per year, meeting the consumption needs of over 2,300 households and avoiding about 5,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
