Supporting the next generation of sustainability leaders

Offering transformative and practical sustainability training and consultancy projects for ambitious emerging leaders. That's the main goal of the Green Steps program which seeks to equip students with the skills, tools and knowledge needed to become effective leaders and agents of sustainable change. Practical sustainability training The program, which is facilitated by the Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI), offers 30 fully funded places to Monash University students across all facilities and disciplines. It is run by a team of experts and educators and, during the program’s five days of training, students acquire practical skills and knowledge which they're then able apply to an interdisciplinary team-based consultancy project. This year we hosted a team of students for a project that focused on our first wind farm in development for Australia: Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1. “The Green Steps program has taught me worthwhile skills to use towards sustainability and given me hope to be able to make a change for the future. Working with EGP Australia has also given me insight into the importance of understanding the community and different stakeholders for a project,” said Green Steps student Marc Repse. According to our Country Manager, Werther Esposito, the Monash Sustainable Development Institute and EGPA have a shared mission in building capacity and driving action to accelerate the energy transition in Australia and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) both locally and globally: “We’re incredibly proud to partner with MSDI for the transformative and educational Green Steps leadership program which will equip students with critical sustainability and leadership skills,” says Esposito, who adds: “This is an exciting collaboration with Monash University, a world leading institution bringing about sustainable and positive change through pioneering research, education and innovation.” For the MSDI Program Manager Liz Bacchetti, this is an exciting collaboration that is building a strong pipeline of future sustainability leaders. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Enel Green Power to deliver our award-winning Green Steps program again this year. Our students are given a unique opportunity to learn directly from EGPA about their approach to addressing the UN SDGs and driving the global energy transition.
