Enel Green Power is at the forefront of building and testing innovative solutions that give a further boost to the energy transition process: Big Data and digital technologies to increase wind farm and solar panel efficiency; drones and robots to support dam and power plant operations and maintenance; batteries to store on-demand clean energy with no waste. Renovating renewables isn’t just a play on words. Our challenge is to stay at the forefront of technology. We use robots and combinations of robots and intelligent machinery to enhance operations in complex environments and conditions. Intelligent systems can help our personnel make data driven decisions and can enable a “universe” of sensors, machinery and robots that collaborate based on specific situation requirements via the Internet of  Things.

Solar Advanced Diagnostic and Predictive Maintenance

Completely autonomous integrated solutions monitor and inspects our photovoltaic power plants. ARP is a robotic platform made up of a drone and a rover. They gather and process thermal images to identify potential anomalies and weaknesses.

Energy storage to foster flexibility

We use safe, cutting-edge, efficient storage solutions to guarantee greater operational flexibility at our plants and to get the most from renewable resources. We integrate different technologies to meet the demands of the markets and of fluctuations in resource availability. We apply sustainable models and promote a “design to recycle” approach.

Integrated storage in the Balearic Islands

Enel Green Power is currently integrating two energy storage technologies, solid state lithium batteries and vanadium flow batteries, at a photovoltaic plant in the Balearic Islands. The two innovative storage systems, currently under construction, will work side by side to assess and validate performance and specificities.

A circular approach to the management of materials

The energy transition also concerns the use and the life cycle of materials, so it has to embrace the principles of the circular economy. It’s not just a matter of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions, it also means reducing all of the impacts related to the life cycle of components, from the design phase to their regular use and all the way to their decommissioning.
