The Guayepo I & II photovoltaic park
The Guayepo I & II solar park is located in the municipalities of Ponedera and Sabanalarga, in the department of Atlántico, Colombia. It entered into operation at the end of 2024 and is now the largest centralized solar power plant in the country. The park houses approximately 780,000 photovoltaic panels, designed to provide clean and sustainable energy to thousands of Colombian families.
The clean energy supplied by the park also powers production at the Colombian Bavaria brewery.
Meanwhile, construction continues on the Guayepo III solar park, which has already begun feeding electricity into Colombia's national grid. Once fully operational, the park will generate approximately 548 GWh per year.

Milestone
Impact on local communities
During the construction phase, the project generated more than 3,000 jobs, with 77% of the workforce residing in the department of Atlántico (16% of them were women). Over 1,200 people took part in recruitment days and, thanks to collaboration with SENA (Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje, the National Apprenticeship Service), 383 workers were trained and certified in various technical skills, such as the use of chainsaws, road control, and the installation of photovoltaic systems.
During construction, a preventive archaeology program was also set in motion, and it included prospecting, recovery, and monitoring. Thanks to these activities, approximately 6.5 tons of ceramic fragments, vases, animal bone remains, and stone artifacts were recovered. This was in addition to work at several burial sites containing approximately 50 individuals, evidence of the ancient communities that once inhabited the area. At the same time, an archaeology training program was carried out for project staff, with practical field sessions and educational activities in schools in Martillo and La Retirada.
Thanks to the "Buena Energía para Tu Escuela" (Good Energy for Your School) program, local school infrastructure was improved – benefiting 1,565 students – with the construction of classrooms, cafeterias, and playgrounds. The Group also donated 1,500 school kits and 30 tablets to support education and, in collaboration with SENA and the local community, organized a carpentry course for 77 people, providing materials for the manufacture of wooden products. As part of the Group’s commitment to the circular economy, waste materials from the construction site, such as wooden reels and pallets, were used to build tables, chairs, playgrounds, and animal enclosures.
Finally, the project promoted numerous community activities, including volunteer initiatives and health brigades, involving over 6,000 people. As part of the Shared Value Creation Plan, several infrastructure projects were carried out: the construction of a sports facility in La Retirada (Ponedera) and the renovation of the Martillo School. A recreational and sports park was also built in Santa Rita (Ponedera), and today it’s an important meeting place for around 1,500 people in the community.
