Bison Meadows Wind + Storage Project
Enel Green Power is developing the Bison Meadows Wind + Storage project in western and central Lee County, Illinois. As of June 2021, Bison Meadows Wind + Storage has opened a project office in Amboy, IL, and built three Meteorological Evaluation Towers (better known as MET towers). The project is expected to enter commercial operation by the end of 2026/early 2027. The income created by wind power leases can help keep family farms secure for future generations and protect farmers from fluctuating commodity prices.

Don DeWaele
Don DeWaele is a local landowner and a Leasing Consultant for the Bison Meadows Wind Project. He has worked in field tile repair for several years, farmed his entire life, has served as a road commissioner for 20 years, and has remained very active in his local community. He is 60 years old with five kids and seven grandkids, a third-generation owner of his farm, and lives just three miles from the Bison Meadows Wind Project.
Don owns 320 acres where four turbines were installed in the Green River project. His experience with wind projects began when he negotiated landowner contracts for the Green River project. Don’s local knowledge and community involvement is an asset to the Bison Meadows project.
