We are proud to stand side by side with local residents, skilled tradespeople and landowners as we bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars into local economies through our renewable energy projects.
Enel Green Power is developing the Bison Meadows Wind project in western and central Lee County, Illinois. As of June 2021, Bison Meadows Wind has built three Meteorological Evaluation Towers (better known as MET towers). The project is expected to enter commercial operation by the end of 2029. The income created by wind power leases can help keep family farms secure for future generations and protect farmers from fluctuating commodity prices.

Mandy Thacker-Baker is responsible for all aspects of renewable energy project development and is part of the team working in the East Central Region. She oversees the entire development process, from site origination, to grid interconnection, permitting, community engagement, and up to construction.
Mandy Thacker-Baker grew up in an environment deeply rooted in the energy industry. This unique upbringing gave her firsthand insight into the traditional energy sector's operations and challenges. Despite her familial ties to fossil fuels, Mandy developed a passion for environmental conservation and recognized the urgent need for cleaner energy solutions. Before transitioning to renewable energy, Mandy spent ten years working as a legal assistant primarily focused on oil and gas litigation. This role allowed her to gain a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the energy sector. Her experience in oil and gas litigation provided her with a comprehensive perspective on the industry's environmental and legal challenges, further fueling her commitment to sustainable energy solutions. With over seven years of experience in the renewable industry, Mandy has established herself as a visionary leader dedicated to advancing the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
Don DeWaele is a local Lee County landowner and leasing consultant for the Bison Meadows Wind Project. He owns a third-generation family farm three miles from the project. As part of the Green River Wind Farm, he has four wind turbines on his property, where much of his experience with wind projects and landowner leasing began. Don has rich local knowledge and a deep history of community involvement, including 20 years as a road commissioner, working in field tile repair, and farming at his Lee County property. Don enjoys spending his free time with his family, including his eight grandchildren. He looks forward to continuing to work with the community on Bison Meadows and to helping his neighbors experience the benefits of wind energy.
