Accelerating a Cleaner Future with Clorox and Enel Green Power

Accelerating a Cleaner Future with Clorox and Enel Green Power

The Clorox Company is a leading multinational manufacturer of consumer and professional products, based in Oakland, California. In partnership with Enel Green Power, The Clorox Company is supporting its commitment to 100% renewable electricity in the US and Canada through two virtual power purchase agreements.

Partnership

A commitment to 100% renewable electricity in the US and Canada

The Clorox Company has signed a 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) to purchase 47 MW of energy from Enel Green Power’s 25 Mile Creek Wind Farm, Oklahoma, beginning in 2023. This is the second VPPA Clorox has entered with Enel Green Power, demonstrating its long-term commitment to match the electricity needed to power its operations with 100% renewable energy and helping to expand renewable energy projects in the US. Its first VPPA in 2021 was a 12-year agreement to procure a 70 MW portion of Enel Green Power’s Roadrunner Solar Project in Texas which covered about half of its electricity needs at the time.

Clorox's renewable electricity goal supports progress toward its 2030 science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and 2050 commitment to net-zero emissions. It is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, a community of global leaders committed to sustainability, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.
